Babysitter faces murder charge in Staten Island boy’s death

No matter what type of criminal charge someone faces, it is likely to be extremely frightening and stressful. When a person is charged with a crime, they might feel like they have to prove their innocence even though it is the government’s duty to prove their case.

Until a person is convicted of a crime, that individual is considered innocent legally. Unfortunately, as most of us know, the minute an individual is charged with a crime, especially one as serious as murder, that person often loses their innocence in the public eye.

A tragic incident that hit the news recently likely has many people enraged and looking to place blame. A 31-year-old babysitter is facing a in the death of a 16-month-old boy. The boy reportedly died from blunt force trauma to his torso and head.

The child was reportedly found in cardiac arrest by his grandmother and was rushed to the hospital where he died. The boy’s mother apparently left the baby with the 31-year-old woman, who had babysat him several times. It appears that the woman lived in the mother’s apartment building.

This is a very tragic incident that will require in-depth investigation by the police. It’s important to investigate this incident because there are several people who had contact with the child before he was injured. One of those individuals was the babysitter’s 52-year-old boyfriend, who has a very lengthy arrest record.

In these types of situations, it is easy to accuse the most likely target. Thankfully, our legal system has laws in place that can protect those that are innocent. With the help of an attorney, anyone facing a murder charge can learn more about their options.
