Understanding metabolism can help you avoid DUI arrest

How much do you know about your body as it reacts to alcohol? Are you someone most people consider a “lightweight” when it comes to “how well you hold your liquor,” or are you better known for being able to toss back quite a few before feeling a buzz? No two people react to alcohol in their systems in exactly the same way; however, the human body has several basic functions that handle eliminating alcohol from the system, and these functions are the same for everyone.

The more you know about how alcohol leaves the body, the easier you’ll be able to discern whether you should get behind the wheel of a car to drive if you’ve had one or more alcoholic beverages. Understanding the science of it all is not a foolproof way to avoid DUI problems, however. New York police can make mistakes, just like everyone else. Breath test devices can malfunction. Average metabolic rate

The metabolism process is largely responsible for breaking down alcohol in your body. Like most people, your average process rate is .015 blood alcohol content per hour. This means if you have .15 alcohol in your bloodstream, it will not fully leave your body for approximately 10 hours. It is logical to assume that, if you consume a few drinks and plan to head home within the next few hours, it might be best to find an alternate means of transportation.

Your excretory system
