A 35-year-old Brooklyn lawyer is in hot water after being accused of sexual assault, according to local sources. The New York man, who practices business law, was arrested on Jan. 4 after being accused of assaulting a number of women back in 2014 and 2015. He was expected in court on Jan. 10, at which time he would likely have been represented by a criminal defense attorney.
According to the accusations, the man is believed to have followed several women into buildings before groping them. In each alleged case, he is believed to have fled the scene when the woman in question called for help or broke free. The criminal complaint alleges at least three incidents of him groping and kissing women without their consent. These incidents are believed to have taken place between Dec. 2014 and Jan. 2015.
Police say surveillance footage of at least one of the attacks exists, showing a man in a New York Yankees hat. He is also suspected in two further assaults, though the charges filed against him do not pertain to those incidents at this time. Currently, he faces charges of attempted rape, attempted burglary and sex abuse.
Of course, such charges would be a damning blow to anyone's reputation, but this is particularly true of an individual who makes his living practicing law. This is why due process and a fair trial is so important to American justice. The man will face the charges in a New York criminal court while represented by a dedicated criminal defense attorney, who will carefully review evidence like the surveillance footage as part of building a strong defense.
