Four people accused of engaging in a serious fight at a local Applebee’s on Long Island are now facing charges. New York authorities in the area arrested four men all between the ages of 24 and 28 after an altercation turned violent, leaving one of the suspects with a punctured lung. All four now face assault charges, with several other charges filed against two individuals. Each of them must now focus on preparing a criminal defense.
According to the report filed by police, a 28-year-old man and a 27-year-old man became involved in an altercation with two 24-year-old men inside the Applebee’s at Green Acres Mall around midnight on the night of March 16. The 28-year-old left to use the bathroom, where the two 24-year-olds supposedly followed him in and assaulted him. Police say the fight continued some time later near the exit of the establishment, where one of the 24-year-olds was reportedly stabbed.
Police say they took all four men into custody when they arrived, and also that they found two knives at the scene. The stabbed man was hospitalized with a punctured lung, while the eldest man suffered a mouth injury. Police believe he may have been under the influence of cocaine at the time of the assaults.
In a situation where no clear antagonist is identified, charges can be filed against all involved, as is the case here. However, New York authorities will have to come up with an accurate timeline of events leading up to the alleged assaults to determine which of the men can be convicted on the charges filed against them. Their criminal defense attorneys will also carefully review the timeline in an effort to protect the innocence of their respective clients.
