A father believed to have left his twin 1-year-old children in a hot car for hours has been arraigned on multiple charges, according to local sources. The New York man was arrested after the children were found unresponsive and were later pronounced dead. The man has retained the support of a private criminal defense attorney, and was slated for his next court appearance on Aug. 1, which will determine his indictment status. 

Criminal defense: 3 arrested in alleged home invasion

Three men in Farmington face federal court indictment in connection with a home invasion in 2016 in which one man was killed. The New York men, aged 51, 48 and 39, have been charged with conspiracy to commit robbery. If they are found guilty, they could face years in prison, significant fines and other consequences. For the moment, no court date has been announced and it is unclear whether any of the three men have retained criminal defense representation.

A 71-year-old man is in custody following an investigation by the Department of Environmental Conservation that turned up a bizarre menagerie in his home. New York authorities say they conducted the "largest seizure of illegal reptiles" in the history of the state when they raided the man's house. If the man is convicted, he could spend years in prison. It is unclear whether he has retained criminal defense counsel at this time.

Criminal defense: 3 plead guilty to terrorism charges

Three men in New York accepted plea deals as part of an ongoing case detailing their involvement in a plot to attack an Islamic community center. The three men, aged 19-20, were represented by criminal defense attorneys during trial proceedings, which saw additional charges dropped as part of the plea deals offered to them. They will face prison sentences between four and 12 years, as reported by the New York District Attorney's office in Monroe County.
