A 21-year-old man is facing serious charges after being accused of the assault of a 92-year-old woman in Queens. The New York woman was initially believed to have died of a fall, but subsequent investigation by New York law enforcement authorities led police to believe her death was actually a murder. The man faces 25 years to life in prison if convicted. He will be represented by a criminal defense attorney throughout all court proceedings.
According to the report, somewhere in the early hours of Jan. 6, a 92-year-old woman was walking near her home when she was approached by a person believed to be the accused man. The individual threw her on the ground before sexually assaulting her. The attacker apparently fled the scene after the assault.
The woman was later pronounced dead of injuries she suffered during the attack. When police tracked down their suspect, he was arrested and charged with two counts each of murder in the second degree and first degree sexual abuse. No further information was available at the time of the report, and no court date has been officially announced at this time.
If the man is found guilty of the charges against him, he could spend the rest of his life behind bars. This is why here in New York, as everywhere in the United States, all defendants are guaranteed the presumption of innocence and the right to a fair trial. His criminal defense attorney will work hard to build a compelling case in his defense.
