Authorities in the City of Plattsburgh arrested four men on May 27 after they were accused of being part of a drug ring operating in the area. New York state police worked with the Adirondack Drug Task Force as well as local law enforcement to conduct these four arrests. At this time, all four men are facing felony and/or misdemeanor charges. It is unclear whether any of the men has retained criminal defense counsel.
According to the police report, officers conducted a raid on an apartment they believed to be a hub for a drug ring. They say they found some 460 bags of what is believed to be heroin, along with some $6,300 in currency, 250 pills believed to be ecstasy, and 31 grams of a substance suspected to be crack cocaine. The approximate value of the alleged drugs would be roughly $15,000.
Four men, ranging in age from 40 to 18, are now charged as part of this investigation. Their charges include felony possession of a controlled substance, criminal nuisance and misdemeanor possession charges. If they are found guilty on these charges, they could face serious jail time.
Of course, drug crimes of this type cannot be permitted in New York state, but it is also important that the investigation and arrests brought in the guilty parties. In order to ensure a fair trial, all four men will be represented by criminal defense counsel when they are arraigned. These attorneys will carefully review the facts of each man’s individual case to build compelling defenses for each of them.
