A woman has been charged in Wilton after police said she was unable to maintain the same lane while driving, according to local sources. New York authorities arrested the woman, who is currently being charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. She is set to appear in court on July 22, where she will be represented by a criminal defense attorney.
According to police, the woman was pulled over around midnight on June 2 after an officer says she saw the woman traveling southbound. She appeared to be driving erratically, and therefore the officer on the scene conducted a traffic stop. The 33-year-old female driver was described as slurring her speech and appearing glassy-eyed. Apparently, the woman refused to submit to field sobriety or breath tests.
A search of her vehicle allegedly revealed a partly empty 50-ml bottle of vodka, as well as a 12-ounce can of hard seltzer. The woman was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, as well as drinking while operating a motor vehicle. She was reportedly released on a promise to appear in court.
Of course drunk driving is a serious crime with many potential dangerous outcomes. However, it remains the burden of New York prosecutors to prove beyond reasonable doubt that the woman was driving under the influence when she was pulled over. Her criminal defense attorney, who will represent her in all court proceedings, will work tirelessly to build a compelling case in her defense by carefully reviewing all facts of the case.
