Two detectives, three sergeants and two officers in the New York City Police force were arrested after a three-year investigation into possible illegal activity came to an end. New York authorities have suspended them without pay during the investigation into an alleged gambling and prostitution ring in Brooklyn and Queens. Some 40 civilians have also been charged, and two more officers are facing possible departmental charges. So far, it is unclear whether any of the accused men have retained criminal defense representation.

Criminal defense: Man faces attempted murder charge

A man accused of assaulting another man during an alleged road rage incident is facing serious charges, according to Brooklyn authorities. New York police say the 46-year-old Queens man has been charged with attempted murder, as well as several other charges, in connection with the incident. He is currently being held against $100,000 bail, and he will be represented by a criminal defense attorney at his preliminary hearing and throughout the trial process. 

Criminal defense: 3 charged with drug crimes

Three people have been arrested in Bath under suspicion of drug possession, according to local and state police. New York authorities apprehended all three individuals after a routine traffic stop on State Route 54 in Bath. Two of the three have been released and are expected back in court at a later time, while the third remains in a county jail. Each individual will be represented by his or her own criminal defense attorney at their respective hearings.

Criminal defense: New York man charged with hate crime

A viral video was released earlier this month, allegedly showing a man berating a woman for wearing a t-shirt of the Puerto Rican flag. The man is now facing serious charges in a New York court after the initial charges against him were upgraded by the court. He now faces two counts of felony hate crime and, if convicted, could face jail time. No court date has been set, but the man will be represented by a criminal defense attorney throughout the proceedings.

Criminal defense: Man charged with murder

A man in Albany is facing charges after another man was stabbed to death on July 5. New York authorities arrested the 21-year-old who is believed to have committed the murder. The man has been arraigned and is being represented by a criminal defense attorney moving forward into his trial. He has yet to enter a plea.
